Mary, I watched every minute of those C-Span hearings. However, you must have been watching MSNBC--if you had watched C-Span you would know that Ms. Lamb was asked if money was the reason that more security was not provided and her reply was "NO".
Yes, the Republicans did cut the money from State--but State still had enough money to provide $100,000 for an electric charging station at the Vienna embassy (Plus a champagne reception for it!) State also spent almost 1MILLION dollars on a State dinner at the White House for the Mexican President. ($4700) per guest. Nice, huh? Beyonce was the entertainment and a chef was imported from Chicago. Other State dinners were in the $500,000 range. State is providing Marine support in Barbados and many other "dangerous" countries. Money was not the issue.
The Brits and other Western countries had left Benghazi because of the frequent attacks and danger. Why was our Ambassador there without proper security? I don't know the answer--but it wasn't money.

I have been knocking on doors for the past few months and it is SO sad to me that when I come to an Obama supporters door and I ask them "Why are you voting for Obama this time?" and they have NO answer. Keith, The problem is that Obama may mean well but he has made some terrible decisions. He just does not understand how business or organizations get things done. He never really had a chance because he never really worked in the private sector--and voted "present" most of the time in the public sector.
When he said we need a "Secretary of Business" it was clear that he does not even understand the functions of the Department of Commerce. That is just sad.

A young man came to my house in support of Obama. I asked him why he was supporting him. He said that he was "inspired" by him in 2008. Then I asked if weren't disappointed. I asked him what Obama had done. His reply that his loan interest had been dropped to 3%. This young man and his wife both had good jobs--but he expects the government to subsidize his college loans. That, too, is sad.

Good grief--Which polls are you looking at? I just went to RCP site and the national polls are in a dead heat. Obama is up in places like Massachusetts but 20 points? Really? That is not the average.

I really thought that I had dummied down my post enough that even the most simple minded of readers could understand it. I guess I had further down to go for somebody like you to follow it. My post is about how Massachusetts (can you say that... Maaassachuuuusetts), the one state where Mitt Romney was elected Governor, is one of the states that Romney is being hammered in. You can't call MA voters ideologues who only vote party line, because they are the ones who voted this Republican into office and who also voted in Scott Brown to fill Ted Kennedy's seat and even Scott Browns race is close. They are not voting for Romney in such large numbers, because he failed them as a leader. This is the only example in America to look at Romney's experience and the affect an that population and they don't want him back. This really shouldn't be that hard to follow.

If you could somehow overlook that the whole post, with repeated references to MA, was not about MA polling, how accurate of a critical eye is anybody like myself or anybody else reading your post, suppose to assume that you give to anything that you are talking about. The post was just 9 sentences long with a direct link to Massachusetts polling figures and three direct references to the state itself. There is glossing over and then there is not even reading at all and jumping to incorrect conclusions. You, obviously, are the later type of person. Let me give you a little bit of advice. If you are going to jump on somebody's post, with a condescending attitude and think that you are going to bust their chops like they have no idea what they are talking about, then you better make sure that you know what you are talking about, before doing so.

No, what I did was educate myself to be able to apply a little critical thinking. Another skill that I can see by scrolling through your posts up-thread here, that you obviously never learned yourself. Ms Keith, you've lost on this exchange. I will say that the facts that Watts is pointing out about Massachsetts won't matter much to anyone outside of that state. I doubt that most voters could correctly identify which state Gov Romney headed or when. Many would say Michigan.

Hence, the exact reasons why I made that post. You nailed exactly what I was thinking and the reason for the post. There are a load of low to no information voters and I think that it is significant to recognize exactly how hated Romney is in the one state that voted him in before, for which he claims his only experience in governing (which is something that he has been talking about a lot this week).

Between Ryan and Romney, you arguably have 3 "home states"...MI, WI and MA (obviously, I am not going to note every state that Romney owns a home, like CA, but you get the point). They are loosing in all three of those states.

Then you look at Obama/Biden and again, you arguably have three home states; DE, IL and HI. And they are winning all three of those states with huge numbers.

I do think that it is significant to point out that the three states where there should be a disproportionate amount of love for Romney/Ryan, actually show the exact opposite. And the one state that Ryan governed, an experience that he is now hammering his audiences with on the campaign trail, is actually indicating a landslide win for Obama.

I look in this thread and most of her posts are incoherent and all were unsubstantiated until the post below from this morning, where she finally used a link. I may believe that post to be an exceptionally weak point to make, but at least she is backing up what she says. If anything, I should be getting a thank you card, because while it is a little late in the game for her in this election cycle, at least she is going to be better equipped to debate issues on the internet. I bet she will never jump into a discussion the way that she did with me; full of condescension when she wasn't even correct in her assumptions to begin with. Speaking of endorsements:

Obama welcomed the Colin Powell endorsement at a rally in Richmond, Virginia.

"I was proud and humbled to learn that we have Colin Powell's support in this campaign. I'm grateful to him for his lifetime of service to his country both as a soldier and as a diplomat," he told the crowd.

The president earlier called Powell to thank him, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One before landing in Virginia, a battleground state where the military vote is important.

"When he took over, the country was in very, very difficult straits, we were in one of the worst recessions we had seen in recent times, close to a depression ... we were in real trouble," Powell said, adding that housing market has started to pick up, the auto industry has recovered and consumer confidence is rising.

Powell also criticized Romney's foreign policy as inconsistent and questioned the former Massachusetts governor's ability to address the deficit and looming defense cuts.

"I'm not quite sure which Governor Romney we'd be getting with respect to foreign policy," he told CBS, calling Romney's foreign policy "a moving target."

Powell, a moderate Republican, served as secretary of state under President George W. Bush.

A retired four-star general, Powell was also chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under former President George H.W. Bush and was national security advisor under former President Ronald Reagan.
