Popular Zumba now in Manassas Park
The sweepingly popular new fitness class, Zumba, is now available at Manassas Park Community Center.
Zumba is not only the hottest new fitness trend in America, it is also the most popular class offered at the Manassas Park Community Center.
Developed in 2001 by Colombian fitness instructor Alberto Perez, Zumba is a high-energy fitness program designed around movement to Latin and international beats.
“Zumba is a cardio-based workout with sculpting exercises designed to tone the entire body from top to bottom,” Manassas Park Zumba instructor Margarita Scott said.
The routines feature aerobic and fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that help to tone and sculpt the body, according to the class description.
Scott said he encourages everyone to come in and give it a try.
“Zumba is designed for everyone, every shape and age. Anyone can start a Zumba class and have fun. This program is not limited to dancers, fitness fanatics or seniors. All exercisers from beginner to advanced will enjoy the benefits of a Zumba class,” Scott said. “Zumba is fun, which motivates class participants to adhere to the program, even after they get the results they desire. They keep coming back."
Zumba is offered Monday and Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Each class lasts about 50 minutes. Members, residents and non-residents of Manassas Park can sign up for eight-week sessions. Prices range from $28 for members, $31 for residents and $36 for non-residents. Passes for one class can also be purchased for $4 or $5 at the front desk.
The Manassas Park Community Center is located at 99 Adams St.
