Police Rescue Baby Chicks From Roadside Spill
Officers rescued hundreds of chicks from becoming roadkill Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday was a really fowl day for Prince William County police—when officers spent their afternoon rescuing hundreds of chicks from certain doom near Gainesville.
A truck filled with crates of baby chicks somehow overturned its load, said police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok. Hundreds of chicks scattered across Route 15 and Logmill Road, covering the roadway around 4:30 p.m.
The roadway was temporarily closed as officers and good Samaritans saved the tiny chicks from death.
Perok said he wasn't sure where the truck was going. It was unclear how the crates fell over, but it wasn't due to a traffic accident.

My headline would have been "Police Pick Up Chicks in Gainesville", but I guess that's just me.

Thanks for posting this "Palate Cleanser" story. Sometimes we need to see positive news especially citizens working together with LEOs.

"Saved the tiny chicks from death?" For about 6 or 7 weeks until they are eventually eaten! Look, this was no different than everyone picking up cans of soup from the road. Chicks become chickens which become a bucket of extra-crispy. It's chattel, nothing more. They were removed from the road for the safety of the drivers, not the chicks.

Hey Beck, are you still bent out of shape for your parents not giving you hugs or are you really such an idiot that cries for attention by trolling the articles? Oh, speaking of which, how did it feel to get owned by that teenage girl in the comments section of the sushi place? Haha 6'3 shaved head Marine turns out to be a very smart teenager that slammed you in public. HOOYAH little man, HOOYAH!

I do enjoy trolling, but your ad hominem premise dose nothing to explain the reason behind my actions. Rather, I find the Patch, in all of its iterations, to be void of news. For example, how is it news, top news mind you, to put an open house feature above that of a recently deceased veteran, Robert Cory? As far as I can see this entire site is ripe for trolling. As for the exchange about the kids in the restaurant...QED!!!
