Police: Man Fired Airsoft Guns at Cars on I-66

Dante Rashad Curry, 19, was charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle and destruction of property.

 

The following information was provided by the Prince William County Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

Prince William County Police said that a teenager fired airsoft guns at cars traveling on Interstate 66, including a marked police cruiser. 

Dante Rashad Curry, 19, of no fixed address, was charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle and destruction of property. 

An officer was driving down I-66 near the Jefferson Street overpass in Haymarket on Sept. 26 around 2:30 a.m. when she heard a loud bang, Officer Jonathan Perok, of the Prince William County Police Department, said in a press release. 

The officer found two men on the overpass, including Curry, who was carrying an airsoft gun. Police said he had been firing the gun at cars traveling on I-66. The damage to the car was estimated at $150, due to a dime-sized dent on the bumper. There were no other reports of damages. 

Curry's court date was unavailable and he was held without bond.

Things like this is going to kill the sport of airsoft. I know its a pellet gun but still. We all need to make sure we are practicing airsoft safety at all time. If everyone could please give themselves a refresher course and read this here airsplat.com/airsoft-safety.htm thank you.
