Pedestrian Dies One Week After Crash Near Manassas Park

Investigators said the victim was intoxicated when he walked on to Centreville Road. The driver of the vehicle who struck the man will not be charged.

A man struck by a car just outside of Manassas Park on March 9 died of his injuries, Prince William County Police said Wednesday.

Richard Earl Hunter, 60, was taken to a local hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on March 17. His address is unknown.

The crash happened at 6:50 p.m. on the 8000 block of Centreville Road in Manassas, near Kline's Freeze. Police said Hunter walked out in front of a 2002 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 72-year-old man of McLean.

The driver wasn't injured.

Police said the driver will not face charges, as the victim was intoxicated and was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk.
