Marshall Has Eight Times More Cash Than Genthner

Del. Bob Marshall, a Republican serving the 13th District, has a commanding lead in campaign funds over his opponent Carl Genthner.

Del. Bob Marshall raised five times more money than his opponent Carl Genthner did during September, according to the most-recent campaign finance reports.

Marshall raised about $31,000 in cash and $1,750 in in-kind donations for his re-election campaign. He spent about $5,000 for the month, leaving him with $76,490 to spend before the Nov. 8 election.

Genthner, a Democrat, raised $6,865 in cash with $395 in in-kind donations, giving him $7,260 for the month. He spent $6,698, leaving him with $9,706 to spend before the election.

Most of Marshall's money is from public employees in the military, universities and the federal government. The bulk of Genthner's money is from other Democrats or Democratic groups.

Marshall has also dominated his opponent in campaign mailers, spending 57 percent of his money on campaign direct mailers. Genthner has spent just 5 percent on direct mailers.

Wow that's interesting! I just took a look at the poll results and as of 1 p.m. Thursday, 77 percent of you say you will vote for Genthner. I want to know your reasons for voting for Marshall or Genthner. Leave them here in the comment box!

I have relative in MPark and they are voting for genthner because bob marshall spends his time on crazy stuff. Bob Marshall is worried about what kind of a flag is flying in front of a bank in Richmond, and he also wanted to have Virginia check into printing its own money. He's rediculous. He should have been focused on jobs and getting funding for education and public safety etc etc

Carl is more sensible. Bob has a good position on growth, but his other activities have caused him to lose credibility with other Republicans, other than the most right winged. Bob has an agenda and that is all. He does not care how he gets what he wants.
To be honest, if you have a need that does not go against his ideology, he will be very helpful. Otherwise he is a zealot.
