Manassas Park Woman Named Genius of the Month

Manassas Park resident Amanda Harper is simply a genius.

Harper, president of Gaeltek, LLC, is Marketing Genius of the Month for January for her success in implementing direct mail marketing to generate new business instead of relying on referrals, according to Technology Marketing Toolkit Inc., the firm that awarded the honor.

She is the first from the Manassas area to win the honor, Andrew Harper CEO of Gaeltek, said of his wife.

The Harpers founded the business in 2004 and has since made it an award-winning IT solution provider.

“It means a great deal to me to be recognized for my success in marketing and for inspiring business owners who may not have a background in marketing—  I've been there," she said. " I know how challenging it can seem when you are just getting started with marketing. I am honored to be recognized by my industry peers for Gaeltek’s marketing efforts.”

 Amanda Harper said she never intended to be marketing master and actually never took any interest in it for the first seven years Gaeltek was in business. 

The company was able to successfully grow from word-of-mouth advertising and referrals. When that didn’t satisfy controlling the growth of the business, Amanda Harper said she joined a marketing coaching program.

She is also the author of Business IT 101: A Business Owner's Guide for Finding Hassle-Free Computer Support."

The Harpers and their young daughter have lived in Manassas Park since 2005. When she moved here from Vienna, is was only meant to be temporary, but now that their daughter is in school, they can’t see themselves living anywhere else, she said.

Harper’s other interests include marathon training, traveling and co-leading her daughter’s Girl Scout Daisy troop.
